Cooling Beds

Walking-beam and rake-type cooling beds engineered to deliver straight, scale-free and evenly cooled bar and section product.

Overview

Uniform Cooling for Straight, Stress-Free Bars

Cooling beds naturally cool and cross-transfer material towards the discharge end. PPRM cooling beds are built on standardized elements, configurable to suit plant product mix and production capacity.

Full mechanical standardization ensures consistent quality and high performance. Based on speed requirements, bed entries are equipped with lifting aprons and natural braking, magnetic braking, or twin channel and mechanical braking. For special applications, slow cooling via insulated covers and forced cooling through water spray systems or tanks are available. A twin or double twin channel system supports extremely high rolling speeds.

Automatic Rake Type Cooling Bed Transfers material by one pitch per rake movement, equipped with a twin channel bar delivery system or run-in table with apron diverters, and features bar alignment.

Turn Over Type Cooling Bed Designed for alloy steel — rotates bars one full revolution per rake pitch, ensuring uniform cooling, superior straightness, and improved metallurgical properties.

  • Configurable Design – Adaptable to product mix & capacity.
  • High-Speed Capability – Twin/double twin channel system.
  • Multiple Braking – Natural, magnetic, twin channel & mechanical.
  • Automatic Rake Type Bed – One pitch transfer with bar alignment.
  • Special Cooling – Insulated covers, water spray & tank cooling.
  • Turn Over Type Bed – Uniform rotation for superior straightness.
